Innovex Filing Cabinet

I needed some affordable yet sturdy file cabinets for the home office but found the lower cost alternatives at the local office supplies store(s) to be inadequate, low quality or much higher pried. I was a little concerned about ordering these but very pleased with the purchase. They arrived quickly, well packaged and in good condition. Assemply was easy and took about 45-60 minutes. Rollers are very nice – not the small ones that give you trouble but rather large enough to easily navigate the cabinet even when fully loaded. The locking mechanism on the front wheels is easy to use and convenient.

Another major plus is the all metal construction – except for the front and top [top is glass]. Very attractive and versatile. No warping from the weight, well constructed, good welds should withstand even the heaviest loads. Handles are solid with a nice feel and the sliding mechanism is very well made. Many of the lower cost file cabinets in the local office supply stores were problematic due to the wood or inferior quality of the sliding mechanism. These slide outs are of a much better quaity than some of those twice the price.

Completely satisified. Total cost for two units was $210 which is still slightly less than one comparable unit at the local store. Good quality item especially for the price. The ONLY thing I would have liked would have been a two file drawer option [file cabinet upper and lower] although for my current needs this worked wonderfully.

The number of parts that comes out of the heavy flat box is intimidating, but keep your wits about you and you’ll figure it out. Took me an hour and a half to put together, but I’m not great at puzzles — your mileage may vary. Instructions seem fairly rudimentary.

The plastic pen tray arrived with a crack in it, and one of the four legs had a minor dent.

The drawers are not lockable.

Leda gives you the exact number of screws and bolts you need, no spares or extras, so pay attention — you lose one little screw and the project is unfinishable until you find a replacement. Some holes are pre-drilled with little or no tolerance; especially the drawer rails require lots of palm power if you’re using a standard philipshead screwdriver. To avoid blisters, better get out the electric drill and the screwdriver bits.

The black tempered glass is not transparent as in the image Amazon provides (no problem, just thought I’d point that out). And the LEDA logo is printed on the front right or rear left corner of the glass top, depending on which way you angle it during assembly. Annoying and weird — who needs advertising on a piece of furniture?

Satisfactory materials, slightly better than I’d expected for the price. On the other hand, the drawers are not as smooth-running and effortless to open/close as I’d hoped.

There appears to be no way to lock the folder-hanging brackets for the bottom drawer in place, so as you use the drawer, the mess of hanging folders inside move BACK when you open the drawer and TOWARDS you as you close it. I used a few strips of gaffer tape to keep the brackets in place, problem solved. But it should have been solved by Leda’s designers instead.

Considering the price, it’s a better-than-average product, and I like the look of it. But if you expect your filing cabinet to do heavy-duty service, day in day out, I’d probably get something sturdier.
